RI
DEAF ATHLETICS Athletics
are an integral part of the educational process
at RI School for the Deaf. Competative sports
offer a unique opportunity for our students
to develop a positive self image. The aim of
the program is to develop highly competative
athletes while emphasizing important values
such as teamwork, sportsmanship, committment,
fitness and scholastic achievement.Our athletic
teams compete with hearing schools in SENEISAA
and with deaf schools from the ESDAA.
The
athletic program encourages students, parents,
staff, and the adult deaf community to become
active participants as team members or spectators
thus promating a high level of school morale
and spirit. We recognize that competition and
tournaments contribute greatly to the social
development of the deaf and hard of hearing.
The following varsity sports are offered:Soccer,
Basketball, Cheerleading and Track & Field.
