Mission Statement

The RI School for the Deaf is a comprehensive center serving a diverse community of Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals. Our mission is to provide a challenging educational program and state-of-the-art resources so that our students become contributing and productive citizens with a positive sense of self both personally and as a deaf or hard of hearing person.

Vision Statement

We envision a school and its various programs that ensures full communication access in all settings, is driven by research in best developmental practices for Deaf and Hard of hearing learners, values/recognizes the diverse language learning styles of our students (and uses advances in audiological and educational technology to help our students grow).

We see an educational environment that encourages students to become literate/ analytical thinkers; that encourages families to develop reciprocal communication with their child and to share in decision making about their child's education; that promotes teachers who are experts/specialists in language and literacy instruction and who reflect on their students’ progress; led by an administration that supports/advocates for innovation, center expansion/growth and school improvement; with the full collaboration of the school's core stakeholders.
